Opening Week!

Fearturtle.JPG

Today is a beautiful day, it is the start of the NCAA soccer season.  Last season we saw a near perfect Wake Forest falter in the playoffs only to see a Maryland squad lift another NCAA Championship.  With the Maryland and Wake Forest squads being pillaged in the offseason, who will capitalize and make a run at the championship this year? Indiana, USF, or the runners up from last season North Carolina Tar Heels all have a very good chance.

Part 1: Who is the Rookie of the Year?

Kevin Alston.JPG

The 2009 draft feels like years ago, where a young man born and raised in London, England turned down professional offers from his home land just to test his fate and enter the MLS Draft. On the other end of the spectrum was Tampa native Ben Jata living out him and his father’s dream of being drafted into the MLS when the Chicago Fire selected him 58th overall. The storylines could not have been any better for the MLS marketing team, but the stories were not needed when the skill of the players overshadowed the stories.

Where did they go?

Where in the world?

Ever wonder what happened to your favorite pre-draft player that never made the big show? In the past, players like Xavier Balc disappeared into obscurity after a lot of pre-draft hype. Well, MLSDraft.net is going to try it's best to track down these players and see where they have landed.

If any of our loyal readers have any updates on players, feel free to comment because some of these players are impossible to track down.

Welcome back!

After a long vacation taken by myself, MLSDraft.net is back and ready for year two! I would first like to thank all the readers who have made this one of the best MLS draft sites out there.

Follow the Rookies: Week 7

After a few weeks off, we have returned just in time to see the Rookie class have quite the week.  Steve Zakuani was the man of the match against the San Jose Earthquarkes with a Goal and an Assist.  Also, across the country we got to see Rodney Wallace and Chris Pontius put a few in the back of the net.

One on One With Zakuani

Sean Keay: After a full preseason, and a couple games under your belt. Do you feel  like you are up to speed with the MLS game? What was the biggest transition from the College game to the Pro's other then the speed of the game?

Steve Zakuani: The biggest transition is the speed of play, and speed of thought. Everything happens a lot quicker, and at a much higher level. Like every new venture, it took me some time to adjust but I feel fine now, I'm enjoying it and still earning everyday, it's been great. The main things I've had to improve are off the ball things like tracking back and defending more, because I'm playing in midfield here, not up top like in college.

SK: What's the best part about moving to Seattle? And what is the worst part about leaving Akron.
