MLS Playoff Picture

RSL Needs a Tie to move on

With one week left in the MLS season, there are still 3 playoff spots left with 5 teams fighting for them. With Dallas, Toronto, Los Angeles and San Jose out of the playoff picture we can focus on the final 5.

Kansas City – They win and there in, it should be a simple task for the Wizards. They have to go into New England and play a team who has already mailed in there regular season. With an early loss in season to the Revs it’s not like they can walk in and get the 3 points; they will have to play, but just 2 weeks before this upcoming match they did beat New England in Kansas City.

New York – Another team that just has to win to play another day. They have to travel to Chicago to play the Fire and with the Fire just coming off a 3-2 loss to Toronto, there going to be looking for blood. Blanco Vs Angel on the big stage of ESPN, expect some fire works Thursday night. If they can’t get the win here, Sunday will be a very interesting day.

DC United – Has the sleeping giant finally awoken? Or was this just a team grasping at straws last week in there heroic 2-1 victory over the Revolution. They need a New York or KC loss and a win in Columbus to sneak into that final playoff spot. This Columbus team has nothing to play for in this game, they want to stay healthy for a playoff push so they will probably rest a lot of there players and let the reserves have a go at DC United. The only downside for DC is that they have a Concacaf Champions League match on Tuesday in Mexico. Expect them to bring a very shallow roster for that game.

RealSaltLake Vs Colorado – Winner gets into the playoffs, the loser goes home. They both have won a game 2-0 in this series so it’s going to have to come down to who ever shows up on Saturday night. Colorado is at home and will have the advantage in this game, but Salt Lake will just need a tie to get them in the post season.
