Chivas USA

Team Needs: Chivas USA

Sacha Kljestan

Chivas USA always seems to be going through an identity criss.

Since its inception in 2005 as an American off-shoot of the famously patriotic Mexican giant, Chivas has always seemed to struggle to find itself. When they first entered the league, the club foolishly misjudged the talent level in MLS, thinking that they could create a competitive team out of American latinos bolstered by lower division Mexican players.

As we all saw, that concept tanked, and the little Goats ditched the whole concept in favour of a much more cosmopolitan - and more inportantly, much more successful - lineup of players.

But success is only relative, and anything would have seemed better than the wretched 2005 campaign.

Since then, Chivas have turned a corner, and are now as talent-laden a side as any in the league. Why, then, are they still struggling to find an identity for themselves?

Playoff Preview

New Trophy

It’s the time of the year where writers love to write previews and give their predictions for the playoffs. Then at the end of the month, those same writers look like complete fools and lose their credibility, only to spend the whole year to build it back up just to do it again.

Who am I to break tradition? Lets do this!
